PRIMARY EDUCATION CURRICULUM
Wellspring Saigon’s Bilingual Primary Education Program is built on the foundation of integrating scientific knowledge, social studies, and academic skills across all subjects in both the Vietnamese and International programs. The program employs a variety of methods, such as competency-based learning, student-centered learning, project-based learning, experiential learning, and knowledge exploration both inside and outside the classroom. These approaches help students cultivate a love for learning, develop critical thinking, independent thought, creativity, and self-directed learning.
The bilingual program model enables students to become proficient in both Vietnamese and English. Core knowledge from the curriculum is approached, explored, and applied through a specialized language environment, fostering the development of learning skills, thinking methods, communication skills, collaboration, and the ability to solve real-life situations.
In addition to developing core competencies, Wellspring Saigon’s Bilingual Primary Education Program provides a positive educational foundation that contributes to the discovery, nurturing, and enhancement of students’ talents. Students have numerous opportunities to develop their strengths through academic activities, participation in clubs, competitions, and creative activities.
Vietnamese Curriculum
The Vietnamese Primary Education Program is based on the National Education Program as stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. The program is developed using an integrated intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, optimizing learning content and outcomes while preserving and promoting national cultural values in both content and teaching methods.
The educational content of the subjects in the Vietnamese program is designed in modules, with appropriate content and duration for each age group and class level. The learning themes ensure that primary students can experience and undertake tasks that are both within their abilities and challenging.
In line with the individualization of education, teachers regularly observe and assess the learning process and the development of each student’s moral qualities, focusing on the development of core competencies and encouraging progress in learning. Students’ academic and personal development results are reflected not only in grades but also in comprehensive feedback from teachers.
International Curriculum
The International Primary Education Program offers students the opportunity to study English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science in English with 100% international teachers. In addition to inheriting the standards of knowledge and skills from the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework, including the Common Core Standards and NGSS, the International Program is selectively developed to integrate with the Vietnamese program’s content, enhancing the application of knowledge, practical activities, and opportunities to practice English in learning situations that are appropriate for primary students.
Similar to the Vietnamese program, students’ learning activities in the subjects of the International Program are assessed both continuously and periodically, through grades and teacher feedback. Additionally, the International Program uses the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Test, designed by the NWEA in the USA. Utilizing an external assessment system not only provides detailed information on students’ academic progress but also ensures objectivity in the evaluation process of the International Program.
