According to the Nutrition Institute, the journey of growing up and maturing in Students involves biological maturation, including functional improvement and mental and physical development. This process requires providing sufficient energy, nutrients, and catalysts to control differentiation, increase cell quantity and size…
Balanced nutrition for sturdy health
While an adult body can compensate for nutrient deficiencies in a short time and “make up” for nutrients in a few days, for a developing Student, daily supplementation of adequate nutrition is much more essential as children always require more energy for growth and to optimize bodily functions.
Alongside Wellspring Saigon, Dr. Hien Thu, a Pediatrician at Hanh Phuc International Hospital, shares insights on the key factors in selecting a nutritionally balanced diet for WISers, which include three crucial criteria:
- Correct Nutrition: Distributing meals, choosing appropriate foods to ensure the right dosage for daily activities.
- Adequate Nutrition: Providing all necessary nutrient groups for the body.
- Diverse Nutrition: Variety and innovation in ingredient selection and food preparation.
These are also the three important criteria that Wellspring focuses on in daily meals and monthly menus for WISers.
Moderate exercise for happy growth
If nutrition is seen as a solid foundation for a healthy developing body, appropriate physical activity habits act as a catalyst for optimal development and happy growth.
In addition to well-known benefits of sports on physical development like endurance training, building a healthy physique, reducing disease risks, and boosting positive energy, suitable physical activity habits offer additional advantages for children:
- Supporting calcium deposition in bones, aiding in height growth.Producing happy hormones, aiding blood circulation, increasing oxygen flow to the brain for enhanced learning efficiency.
- Team sports help children learn and improve communication skills, enhance friendships, and build healthy social relationships.
According to Dr. Hien Thu, elementary school students are encouraged to exercise at least 30 minutes a day and 3 days a week. For middle school students and above, a minimum of 1-1.5 hours per session and 3 sessions a week are recommended to promote growth hormone production.
We express our gratitude for Dr. Hien Thu’s valuable insights shared with WISers and hope that this information will help Parents and WISers actively develop healthy exercise habits and a balanced nutrition regimen on their journey of learning and growing happily at Wellspring Saigon.
